18 U.S.C. § 2257 Statement

A short compliance statement explaining why federal record-keeping obligations do not apply to editorial coverage of the PolyBuzz platform. It also sets out who is responsible for content on the platforms this site links to.

What § 2257 requires

Section 2257 requires producers of certain sexually explicit visual depictions to keep age records for every performer. Together with 28 C.F.R. Part 75, 18 U.S.C. § 2257 imposes record-keeping and labelling obligations on producers of visual depictions of actual sexually explicit conduct. Producers covered by the statute must keep records verifying that every performer was at least 18 at the time of production and must display a notice naming the custodian of records.

Why it does not apply here

Section 2257 does not apply to this site, because it neither produces nor hosts visual depictions of sexually explicit conduct. Its content is written coverage of the platform, images illustrating the app, site-made brand graphics such as the logo and social cards, and links to third-party sources. None of that meets the statutory definition of material subject to § 2257 record-keeping.

Where this site links out to the platform or to alternatives named on the PolyBuzz AI chat page, those platforms are independent third parties responsible for their own compliance under U.S. federal law and any equivalent rules where they operate. This site does not take on those obligations on their behalf.

Third-party platforms linked from this site

Responsibility for any record-keeping on linked platforms sits with those platforms. Coverage here references PolyBuzz, listed on the App Store by Cloud Whale Interactive Technology LLC and operated on the web by Singularity Mutual Entertainment Culture Media Limited, plus alternatives such as Character AI, Janitor AI, Chai and Candy AI. Nothing on this site should be read as taking on § 2257 responsibility for content published elsewhere, and the PolyBuzz community guidelines ban sexual content in any case.

Voluntary adult policy

Separately from § 2257, the site limits access to adults through an 18+ self-certification gate on first load. How the gate works is explained on the age verification page, and it reflects the adult framing of the coverage rather than a legal requirement.

Amendment history

Substantive changes to this statement update the page's schema dateModified and are noted in the editorial policy log. Prose polish is not logged, while changes to scope or applicability are.
